The Carroll County Democratic Central Committee is seeking candidates for appointment to serve on the Carroll County Board of Elections. To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must be a registered county voter for five years and a member of the Democratic Party. In addition, a candidate may not hold a public or party office. While you are on the Board you must remain impartial, and you cannot be involved in anything of a political nature. With the change of administrations, the Carroll Democratic Party is entitled to only two rather than the previous three positions on the Board of Elections. Interested candidates should submit a brief resume, the CV form, and the Ethics Exemption Disclosure form to the Committee no later than January 28, 2015. Submissions may be mailed to the Carroll County Democratic Central Committee, PO Box 2004, Westminster, MD 21158, or emailed to ccmddemocrats@gmail. The Carroll County Democratic Central Committee will review the applications and approve recommendations for appointment to be forwarded to the governor. Forms may be accessed at the following links: - Ethics Form (required for all applicants) bit.ly/1tZCbLg - CV Form for Board of Elections bit.ly/14PErJ3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF BOARD OF ELECTION MEMBERS (not inclusive): • Annual salary of $3,000; position begins on June 1 • Attends monthly Board meetings • Assists in approval and selection of new precincts and/or polling places • Suggests persons to serve as Election Judges • Attends public demonstration of voting system prior to each election • Expected to help evaluate Early Voting locations when observing election judges • Visits polling places on Election Day • Sometimes assists with staff during Absentee Voting at nursing homes & assisted living centers In 2015-2016, there will be two major new tasks: public education on new voting system and implementing same-day voter registration at Early Voting, and aiding/training a new Elections Director.
