The Centennial Commission (the Commission) has been established to commemorate the 100th anniversary in 2017 of the transfer of the Danish West Indies to the United States; thus becoming the U.S. Virgin Islands. March 31st of every year is recognized as the official Transfer Day in the USVI. Each year, the Territory acknowledges the anniversary by symbolically lowering the Danish flag and raising the Stars and Stripes. The first and official ceremony took place on St. Thomas on the grounds of the Legislature at 4 P.M. on March 31, 1917. The Commission, in an effort to get public input, is have public forums throughout the Virgin Islands. The first series of forums were held in St. Thomas and St. John in September and October, respectively. The forum on St. Croix will be held as follows: Saturday, December 6th. 2014 from 1:00pm. to 3:00pm. At the Frits Lawaetz Legislative Hall in Frederiksted, St. Croix
