The Central Mosque Poverty Relief Project has been running for 2 years. It has three branches; 1. A weekly soup kitchen- every Saturday the central Mosque provides rice and curry and soup to destitute service users in Cadogan Street. 2. A fortnightly grocery drop to Positive Action in Housing, a paralegal service for refugees, that distribute the groceries to the most needy. 3. A weekly food parcel drop- every Sunday the central Mosque delivers over 100 food parcels (each containing halal chicken, potatoes, onions, cucumber, tomatoes, fruit, garlic, ginger, rice, sugar, t bags etc) direct to the doorsteps of the poorest people in Glasgow. All the above projects are run by volunteers from within the Central Mosque. Today we will be helping with the distribution of over 500 kg of Eid Qurbani meat by incorporating into our Sunday food parcel project as well distributing to nearly every homeless and destitute organisations throughout Glasgow. We believe in a practical approach to Islam.
