The Challenges of Insecurity in Nigeria and Boko Haram Insurgency .... APC AT THE HOUSE OF COMMONS This event was part of a series of events supported by the Extractive Industries APPG to examine insecurity in West Africa; it gave APC executives the opportunity to respond to questions that had been asked in the House of Commons before summer recess about the paty’s alleged links to Boko Haram. Andrew Rosindell MP questioned the UK foreign secretary, Mr. William Hague, on our engagement with Nigeria’s leading opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), over the Boko Haram menace. This came after a debate in parliament in which Labour MP Sandra Osborne sought to examine allegations of links between APC and the insurgents. What is the Federal Government of Nigeria doing now to stop Boko Haram? Why is the capability of a once proud Nigerian Army degraded? Nasir helped to answer these questions and then move on to debunk a number of conspiracy theories about the Boko Haram that are circulating in London before suggesting that the continued growth of Boko Haram is quite simply, in his view, down to a corrupted military leadership and an increasingly incompetent government.
