The Cheverus girls fought off the fatigue of two games in three days to defeat Bonny Eagle 3-0 at Boulos Field on Friday. Olvia Mull got to the far post and headed in a corner kick from Abby Goodrich in the 20th minute to make the score 1-0. With the wind and sun in their faces, Cheverus withstood a strong push from Bonny Eagle to keep the lead heading into half. The girls were determined not to have a second half letdown as Mull took a long pass down the flank from Goodrich and crossed it to Katie Gordon (3) for a goal just 15 seconds into the second half. Mull (5) then finished the scoring in the 33rd minute when she took a brilliant through ball from Goodrich (4), beat her defender before calmly punching the ball past the goalkeeper for Cheverus sixth goal in two games. Hannah Tyson and Anna Niedermeyer combined for the second shutout in as many games. Currently seeded 9th in the Heal Point standings, the girls return to action Wednesday at Noble as they make a final push toward a home play-off game. The Lady Stags host Westbrook on Friday, 10/17 and then finish the regular season with Senior Day against Gorham on Tuesday, 10/21.
