The Christmas Poem herewith was sent to me by an old Army buddy in St. Paul. I send it forward for all... --the men who trudged thru winter snow, with torn raggings wrapped around their bleeding feet, to attack a British encampment at holiday rest, scoring their first meaningful victory in an impossible war ... --the men who held their ground in snow-laden trenches until their enemy gave up the fight in 1918 ... --the men who were just beginning to stir from weekend slumber in Hawaii, when suddenly enemy bombs and strafing bullets began to rain down on the decks of their ships and the floors of their barracks ... --the hand-picked group of Navy Seals who wrote their last will and testament, before they flew out in the darkness for Pakistan, to get the most evil aggressor ever to attack our homeland ... All those others, whether they saw combat or didnt, whether they did time in the stockade or didnt, whether they came back to home and hearth or took to the streets as psychotic wanderers...They were, they are, the Veterans. Our Veterans.
