The Christmas spirit is alive and well at Zhoukou Normal - TopicsExpress

The Christmas spirit is alive and well at Zhoukou Normal University in China. Each of my five freshman classes in Oral English had Christmas Eve parties in their classrooms. In each room, the 40 to 45 students pushed all the chairs and tables to the edge of the room and had a talent show with singing, dancing, comical skits, harmonica songs. I went from room to room with a Santa hat singing Santa Claus is Coming To Town and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. The students were very generous, giving me warm socks, earmuffs, fleece-lined boots, gloves, and a thermos for hot tea. In one class, all the students took sheets of colorful paper, wrote Merry Christmas wishes with beautifully drawn Santas and Christmas candles and bells, and then folded their messages into many different origami shapes looking like cranes, hearts, Christmas trees, Santa Claus and others. All across the front of each classroom,, the chalkboards read Merry Christmas! and had wonderful art work related to the season.
