The Cincinnati Human Relations Commission would like to extend congratulations to everyone involved with planning the 26th Annual Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion! This years event was a huge success and brought together individuals and families of every age, SES, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identify. etc. A true family reunion. For those not familiar with the history of the Black Family reunion, the celebration was conceived in 1986 by Dr. Dorothy I. Height, President Emerita of the National Council of Negro Women. The Black Family Reunion Celebration was a 3-day cultural weekend event that brought consumers, corporations, communities and government agencies together to focus on the historic strengths and traditional values of the Black Family. The Midwest Regional Black Family Reunion Celebration was inaugurated in August 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is held annually the 3rd weekend of August. Source: midwestbfrc
