The City of Houston appreciates the generosity of the Houston Contractors Association for making this initiative against blight a yearly tradition. We thank the thirty-five members of HCA who donated their services and equipment to take down these buildings that degrade our neighborhoods and harbor crime. Todays work sets the momentum for the demolition of 139 hazardous buildings over the next two months. Ridding of these eyesores and crime havens is a giant step toward making our neighborhoods safer.
