The Civic Theatre Presents: Nothing but The Truth by John Kani Since its reopening on 7 October 2013, the Civic Theatre in Bloemfontein has lived up to the promise to make it a facility that will boost the performing arts in the Free State and Mangaung in particular. The investment of R1 million in the upgrade of this facility has born fruits. The Theatre hosted a number of high quality shows, starting with the internationally acclaimed production, Umoja which was staged during the Theatre opening night. This was followed by other high caliber shows such as Jazz Night (featuring Ronny Jordan, Oliver Mtukudzi and Victor Kgatlape); Ubuntu (featuring various local dancers). The Civic Theatre will now be presenting the acclaimed play – Nothing but the truth. This play will be staged as a set-work for learners using the book Nothing But The Truth as part of their English literature Curriculum. The play will not be limited to learners only, but will be open for the public in general to experience this formidable piece of writing by one of the most acclaimed writers in our country and the characters being brought to life on stage by some of our local actors.
