The Closing Ceremony of the 1st Eastern Visayas D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Officers Training with RPOC Chair/Mayor Aquino as the Guest of Honor and Speaker (November 13, 2014/Calbayog City Sports Center) 116 Police Officers from all over Samar graduated from the 10-day DARE Officers Training, the very first in Eastern Visayas, held in this city. The fresh graduates are referred to as new DARE officers and are now certified to teach the DARE curriculum. This DARE curriculum targets young children to prepare them to avoid substance abuse and violence as they enter adolescence. DARE is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons (for the DARE in-school program) and a community outreach program (for the juveniles) that teaches children how to resist peer pressure, make healthy choices and live productive drug and violence-free lives. Aside from RPOC Chair/Mayor Aquino, also in attendance during the DARE Closing Ceremony were DARE Project Coordinator PSSupt. Cedrick G. Train (DRDA-PRO 8), PDEA-8 Regional Director Laurefel P. Gabales, Samar Police Provincial Director PSSupt Nolasco K. Bathan, Samar Board Member Alan Diomangay and Calbayog City Division ASDS Mr. Raul Agban.
