The Coffee Pot Cafe, previously located one mile south of Galloway - TopicsExpress

The Coffee Pot Cafe, previously located one mile south of Galloway on U.S. Highway 65, (near Springfield) was shaped like a coffee pot and housed an upstairs apartment above the cafe. The spout is visible in the photo from this angle, but the coffee pot handle is on the other side... On Sunday, December 7, 1941, Missouri Highway Patrolmen Victor O. Dosing and Sam Graham responded to a report of a stolen vehicle parked behind the cafe. Army Private Milan J. Nedimovich had stolen the vehicle after murdering a car lot watchman in Little Rock, AR. He was hiding out with his girlfriend in the upstairs cafe apartment. As Trooper Dosing started to grab the doorknob, the door was quickly opened by Nedimovich who instantly shot & killed Dosing. Nedimovich also critically wounded Trooper Graham with a second shot and then subsequently killed himself using Dosings gun. The Coffee Pot Cafe no longer stands, but near its location now exits a beautiful monument tributing Victor Dosing.
