The Community Tree of HOPE. Today, exactly 30 days before - TopicsExpress

The Community Tree of HOPE. Today, exactly 30 days before Christmas, we launch the Tree of HOPE. We enjoin all sitios, barrios and towns to plant a Tree of Hope that will be symbolic of their prayers, aspirations and hopes as they rise from the rubbles of typhoon Yolanda. The Tree of Hope will daily remind people of their hope for a new beginning and a better life then they had, in partnership with the ngos, civic group, aid agencies and government sectors that came to their rescue in the community’s darkest hour. Sitios, barrios and towns affected by super typhoon Yolanda are encouraged to make a community (Christmas) Tree of HOPE. Here they hang their balls of prayer, thistles symbolic of their pain, and figures symbolic of their hope. Using materials picked up from the ruins of their houses, their creativity will be challenged to transform these materials into a tree that will be a source of strength and hope. A prize of P10,000 will be awarded to the biggest tree, while P20,000 will be awarded to the most symbolic tree. A grand prize of P30,000 will be awarded to the Best Tree of Hope. Maximum height of the Tree of Hope will be 15 feet. It also launches the Plant a Million Trees campaign to replace the thousands of trees that were destroyed by Yolanda. A project that we enjoin all typhoon victims and survivors, and, all individuals, groups, sectors and agencies who are part of the rebuilding efforts in Cebu, Leyte, Samar, Panay, Palawan and Mindoro. Please support this initiative undertaken by SuperTyphoon Yolanda-Prayer and Coordinating Center.
