The Contraband Fly Casters Fly Fishing Club of Lake Charles, LA will hold its annual Fly Fishing Expo on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the PPG – Porter Hall and Park located at 2250 Bayou D’Inde Pass (Prater Road), in Westlake, LA. The event will open at 8:30 AM and close at 4:00 PM. Admission is free to the public. Refreshments and lunch will be offered for a nominal fee. Head-lining the event will be the popular nationally known authors, warm water fishers, fly tyers and husband and wife team Terry and Roxanne Wilson. The Wilsons have authored several books focusing on warm and still water fishing including “Panfish” and are regular contributors to “Flyfisher” magazine. Returning to this year’s Expo will be Master Certified Casting Instructor Keith Richard from Breaux Bridge, LA. Mr. Richard will be discussing and demonstrating fly-casting form and techniques throughout the day. He will also be available in the afternoon for individual coaching. Arrangements for one-on-one instruction can be made upon registration at the Expo Registration Desk on Saturday morning, on a first come, first served basis. The Expo will feature guest fly tyers from Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi that are well known within the fly fishing fraternity throughout the Gulf Coast and Southeastern United States. They will be sharing and demonstrating their designs and techniques throughout the day. Flies used in catching bass, bream, crappie or sac-a-lait, flounder, speckled trout and redfish will be highlighted. For those interested in cold water fishing, flies suitable for rainbow and brown trout will also be demonstrated. Other activities offered will include: vendor exhibits of fly rods and reels; fly tying equipment and supplies; kayaks and related fishing equipment; silent auctions of various fishing equipment and classic fly designs; information on fly-fishing areas in and around Southwest Louisiana, and the general swapping of fishing stories and experiences.
