The Creation story...: In China, many of their origin myths have the character called Pan Gu, who is sometimes depicted as a giant hairy man with a dog’s head. In one myth – at the beginning there was no real distinction between Heaven and Earth, it was a big gooey mess surrounding a big black egg. And inside the egg, curled up tight was Pan Gu sleeping. According to the legend, he’d been asleep for 18,000 years! When he eventually woke, naturally he wanted to escape, so he picked up an axe and hewed his way out. Some of the contents of the egg were heavy and sank to become the Eath. Some of the egg was light and floated up to become the sky. The Earth and the sky the got bigger and bigger until another 18,0000 years the earth was formed. Some versions of the story have Pan Gu pushing the sky and the Earth apart, after which he was so exhausted that he died. Various part of him then became the universe that we know. His breath became the wind, his voice became thunder; his two eyes became the moon and sun, his muscles farmland and his vein roads. His sweat became rain, and his hairs became stars. Humans are descended from the fleas and lice that once lived on his body. Would you still believe this story today if you were told it since childhood?...Why is this less believable, in itself, than the story of Adam and Eve in Genesis?...:
