The Creators Game? ...Ive heard this reference often, but Ive not used it in referring to lacrosse and its current state. Im not one to loosely use or repeat words and quotes, without a direct common reference. I understand that the Native Americans originally termed this game that. Out of respect and in regards to their culture and beliefs, I chose not to speak or personally refer to it. As of late and particularly during yesterdays event for our fallen warrior. (Yes ~ warrior), I really began to examine how this possibly could be so. My reference and how I connect this spiritual expression, is by witness. As I peered over the group of young men that came out to support the Cook family and the memory of our beloved Pockets, I notice that there was not one bad kid in the whole bunch. I pretty well know of every kid that showed up, so this is not by speculation. It dawned on me, that every kid in our lax community midst and over the years, who has shown a serious interest in this game, with the diligence to improve, is a good kid, doing good things Now, I have coached a player or so that has had a few bumps in the road, but Im so proud to say that they had quickly turned things around and are leading productive lives. I have often heard my main man Coach Carter (when he decides to go deep on a youngster) say, Son once you get serious about this game, its gonna change your life. I must truly agree. Once this Creators Game gets into your veins, it becomes a life changer. There is also a kid of mine that has put his stick down. I pray that he picks it back up soon. Im convinced that The Creator will guide him.
