The Crimean Peninsula: Crimean became a part of Russia in 1783 and make no mistakes, this is all about who gets the money. Crimean people have been under more flags than Mobile. The Crimean peninsula has historically been at the boundary between the classical world and the steppe; meaning Russia its southern fringe has been colonised by the ancient Greeks, the Roman and later Byzantine Empire, and its successor the Ottoman Empire, while at the same time its interior was occupied by a changing cast of invading steppe nomads, such as the Cimmerians, Scythians, Goths], Bulgars, Huns, Khazars, Kipchaks, and the Golden Horde. Before the fall of Russia Crimea was about the same as our Porto Rico. With the fall of Russia it became The Autonomous Republic of Crimea under the Newly formed State of the Ukraine in 1991. Crimea is 58% ethnic Russian and 32% Tatar. The vote went as expected almost 100% to go with Russia. Instead of saying something negative happened we( if we believe in freedom ) should be happy for the process. A few rednecks got into fights but for the most part it went smooth. We have had bigger fights after a football game. Now before anyone brings up Hitler going into Austria just remember this. Austria wanted Hitler. Poland did not. 50 million died because of that little misunderstanding. This is my point. I am fed up with me spending my money ( via the government ) going to war just so I can say I stood up to the bully. Russia is not being a bully. The Crimeans are throwing themselves at Putins feet. If thats what they want then so be it for good or bad. Thats what freedom is people. The right for self-determination, right or wrong. Amen.
