The Dark Knight Rises is on TNT right now (et). This is the first time Ive seen it since theaters, and for whatever its worth, here are a couple of things that come to my mind. 1.) A lot of people (including me) have talked about the politics of the movie, and how it seems to paint Occupiers as villains. What I seemed to forget are the countless scenes that seem to show Bruce Wayne needing to function with less money, and/or put others (including lower classes, Robins orphanage, Selena Kyle, etc) before himself. I also seemed to forgot how much the other non-Bruce Wayne rich characters twirl their moustaches so to speak. 2.) Ive seen interviews with Nolan where he says that he is a huge fan of Batman 66 and that his goal was never to create the dark and gritty super hero movie with The Dark Knight. Rises seems to attempt to be the funniest and most fantastical of the Dark Knight movies (countless one liners, Tri State Area domination plots, Anne Hathaways almost literal purring of Selena Kyles lines, etc.). I could be completely wrong, but Im curious to know if Nolan meant Rises to be a response and/or apology for the dark and gritty super hero genre he seemed to help reinvigorate. Whether or not he succeeded is another question. Whether or not Im completely wrong and talking out of my a$s is also another question. I want to say that I still enjoy the movie over all. :)
