He worked in private practice with Boyne Clarke until he enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as a member of the Office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) in 1990. He has served in a variety of positions at the JAG, and was appointed to the position of Judge Advocate General in 2010. He was promoted to Major-General in 2012. He has been deployed to the former Yugoslavia and to Bosnia-Herzegovina. He has received myriad prizes and awards for his service.
