The Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is accepting nominations for the 2013 Amgen Breakaway from Cancer® Survivor Award throughout August. The award is presented to a cancer survivor who has a passion for helping others with cancer. The recipient will lead the Amgen Breakaway from Cancer Survivor Walk on Saturday, October 12 in Simard-Payne Park, and will also be honored at the Champions for Hope Celebration that same evening. The criteria includes: Individual is a cancer survivor; demonstrates passion for helping others diagnosed with cancer; is actively involved in community outreach; inspires others by their demonstrated passion; and lives and/or ‘helps others’ in the state of Maine Nominations may be submitted online via dempseychallenge.org or mailed to Renee Courtemanche at Central Maine Medical Center, 300 Main Street, Lewiston.
