The Department of National Defense (DND) is procuring 2 anti-submarine helicopters for P1.7 billion each or P5.4 billion for 2. Military experts are asking why the DND is procuring 2 anti-submarine helicopters. Note that China has more than 50 submarines in its fleet. They suggest that DND should use the P5.4 billion to buy 8 transport helicopters or buy 5 C-130 planes. The question: Who is behind this deal? A 30% commission would bring P1.8 billion in commissions. There should be an investigation of the purchases of equipment under the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program.
