The Department will be conducting a workshop in early September on getting into graduate programs but you need to know this information before then. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO APPLY TO A PSYCHOLOGY GRADUATE PROGRAM FOR FALL 2014 ADMISSION, BE SURE TO READ THE FOLLOWING NOW. If you have not started to do so, you should settle on your graduate program choices asap. Most graduate programs require the applicant to take the general Graduate Record Exam (GRE). It is computer administered and can be scheduled by making an appointment at a testing center. It is available most days of the year. (GRE.org) HERE COMES THE IMPORTANT PART: Check to see whether the schools you have chosen require the GRE SUBJECT TEST in Psychology as part of the application. Only some do. This exam is ONLY given three times during the year. It is ONLY given in paper form and at assigned testing locations. If one of your choices requires the test, because GRE scores should arrive at the schools to which you apply by the application deadline(usually December or January), you will have to register for one of the two Fall test dates: either 9/28/13 or 10/19/13. The third date is in April 2014 and would be too late to be considered. The registration deadline for the 9/28/13 test is 8/23/13! The registration deadline for the 10/19/13 is 9/13/13! If you need to take the subject test, go to the GRE.org site for more information and to register for the test.
