The Dougan Falls first bridge took you from the paved country - TopicsExpress

The Dougan Falls first bridge took you from the paved country road, to the gravel road that keeps winding on another ten miles into the hills, past two more bridges, to where two small creeks become one, then grows on to become the Washougal, native for ‘Rushing Waters’. Stunning white water falls and pools, sandy beaches, high cliffs and rope swings make for spots to jump and dive. On a weekend, hundreds of folks would pack the edges of the river, vying for a spot to sit and relax near the water. First bridge, is like the Disneyland of the river: Overcrowded and full of tourists, but it was the meeting point before you’d go further up the river, where more secluded spots were to be found.
