The Downbelow team had a particularly challenging beach clean today due to overnight winds from the South & very high tide. The beaches around Gaya Island are public & the responsibility to keep the area clean falls under the local authorities however we are always happy to assist & do so on a daily basis year round. As a responsible conservation minded company we are happy to clean the beaches daily but this month all our staff are joining in to support the cause & help tackle Marine Debris. Trash comes from many sources but ultimately it originates from us humans & our seemingly endless desire for plastic products so please consider do you need that extra bag ? Today has been a day long battle with both Downbelow staff + even some guests & Sabah Parks staff joining forces to clear the unwanted floating debris.. Pleased to say we have finally cleared it :)
