The Easter Island got its name when Admiral Jacob Roggeveen and his Dutch crew who became the first European who set foot in the Easter Island. Each of the Moai statues weighs of about two elephants. It is said that it was rolled from its original location which is Ponnappa quarry from where they are presently. In front of the altars, there is a circular area in which is believed to be sacred ground.
