The Education Ministry has a multi-pronged approach to tackle bullying in schools. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Hawazi Daipi,told parliament that schools educate students about bullying both in the formal curriculum and in other school-based programmes. He added that the new Character and Citizenship Education curriculum, introduced in schools from this year, specifically teaches students to report cases of bullying, seek help, and to care for others. The Education Ministry has also equipped all schools with a School Bullying Management Kit, to support teachers and counsellors in managing bullying in schools. Schools also engage families and the community on bullying prevention, for instance, to conduct activities like anti-bullying programmes for students, and training workshops for teachers. And the Education Ministry also collaborates with other ministries, through the Inter-Ministry Cyber-Wellness Steering Committee, to address cyber-bullying and other cyber wellness-related issues. 938LIVE/sr
