The Egyptians to be executed in particular were accused of burning the Matay Police Station, killing a police officer, attempting to kidnap two others, seizing police weaponry, and disrupting public order, among other crimes, Al Monitor reported. Some Egyptian liberals, such as Mohammad Abu Hamed, proclaimed staunch support for executing the terrorists, stressing that the crime of terrorism merited harsher sentences. Al Monitor reported widespread twitter use of the Arabic hashtag “I support the death sentence verdict on terrorists” that sprung up alongside pictures of Egyptian terror victims with their grieving mothers and widows. Nevertheless, despite these facts, the United States government insists on adamantly supporting the Muslim Brotherhood till the very end merely because they were initially democratic elected. The US insists on their position even though the Muslim Brotherhood didn’t govern democratically and that their overthrow was accompanied by widespread pro-democracy protests within the North African country.
