The Elton John Story 2.3 (Volume II, Chapter III) After extensive collaboration with Pat Haley and Joe Winslow (I sent them messages. They replied), heres the next step in the process that will ultimately culminate in proof that a handful of very dorky Parsonians met up with Rock Star Par Excellence, Elton John. Personnel for this follow-up concert trip to see Mr. John was Pat Haley, Jim Kutz, Joe Winslow, Carl Zink and me. Neither Joe, Pat or I can remember who drove. The only specific memories after we got into the concert are as follows: Once were admitted into the auditorium, Haley and Winslow immediately barge to the front of the stage to attempt to find someone on the crew that Joe might recognize from Lawrence. Their well-thought-out-plan was that, since we had history with Elton, hed want to get caught up on what wed been up to over the past three weeks.... find out what was happening in Parsons, that sort of thing. Oddly, that did not appear to be the case and Joe and Pat couldnt get any stagehands to acknowledge their existence whatsoever. The house lights go down and people are told to go to their assigned seats, which I do (at that time, I was typically in a constant state of doing pretty much exactly what I was told to do. It wasnt long after that I began to deviate from that procedure. When I got married. I returned to my earlier, sheep-like behavior). As I recall, all of the rest of the Parsonians followed suit, with the exception of Mr. Winslow. That actually turned out quite well for all of us as, since stayed down front at the stage level, he was able use Haleys camera (the same one Pat uses to this day as it turns out) to capture the classic Elton John shot that can be seen a post or two below this one. Rebellion can be beneficial after all! Of course, keep in mind we were only three or so years away from the legendarily rebellious sixties. No doubt the concert was wonderful and we enjoyed it immensely. Thats all I was there for, to hear some great music from my favorite musician on the planet at the time. However, that was not enough for one of us. In 2.4, well reveal the amazing investigative abilities of at least a portion of our persistent Parsonian posse.
