The Endearment Dance Company, Nancy A. French (furniture maker), Jamie Powell (bamboo artist), Bob Hepner (visual & performance artist & carnival truck creator), Katherine Rogerson Moore (Visual Emotionism) are amongst the artists participating in “The Nines,” New England’s newest music and arts festival, which takes place this Saturday, August 10, at Willard Field in Devens, Mass., just off Route 2, this Saturday, August 10. 3Rivers Arts is presenting this multi-stage, multi-arts summer festival that features a diverse lineup of nationally touring and emerging artists. The all-ages event will also feature comedy, installations by area artists, exhibits, interactive art projects, crafts, tasty food and beverages and more. Other artists include Bryan Gaskins (painter & printmaker), Cara Romano (textile weaver), Anna Koon (photography & painter) & Amanda Beard (illustrator & designer), Deborah Baldizar (sculpture), Dorothy Basset (welder, video artist & sculptor), Heather Katie-Aziz (printmaker & bookbinder), Marlene Stemple (painter & graphic designer), Mostafa Kachchaf (welding & painting) & Mei Ohara (audio experimentation). Rollstone Studios of Fitchburg will be joined by Catherine Evans (installation art), Nikki Stephens (LED & fire prop hoop dancer), Gregory Barry (non-traditional visual forms), Kenne Ide (movement artist & Permaculture designer), Rachel Manly (textile design printmaker), Ryan Gardell (graphic design & visual artist), Lia Sunshine (visionary painter, sculptor, fire performer & hypnotist), Phyllis Ewen (“Green Thoughts”), Camilo Neves (visionary), Dr. Thomas B. Malone (“Madinda Nation”), Moses Buyondo (Ugandan multi-instrumentalist), Fireseed Arts & Chris Cyr (illustrator). Indie rockers Explosions in the Sky, Delta Spirit, Walk Off The Earth, Shuggie Otis, Kid Koala, Matt Pond, K. Flay, Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys and others will appear on two stages with no overlapping sets while a mix of the region’s best emerging-to-established comedians will take up residence under the “Stitch” comedy tent, curated by Harvard Square’s The Comedy Studio and hosted by the Comedy Studio’s impresario Rick Jenkins.
