The Enugu state Police Public Relations officer Dsp Ebere Amaraizu, has described his recent Award from Security Watch Africa as the Best community Relations police officer in West African Sub region, as a clear testimony and reflection of what Enugu state police command has involved itself with in the last couple of years. He described the robust relationship and partnership between the police in the state and members of the community and other stake holders which includes sister security agencies, the media in the state and beyond that helps to drive the message of security partnership to the members of the public amongst others. Amaraizu who was reacting to the award shortly after his arrival from Dubai United Arab Emirate, disclosed that the command through the commissioner of police Abubakar Adamu Mohammed was also honored with an award, as the most outstanding community policing command in West Africa pointing out that all this was a true reflection that the command has severally been involved in series of sensitization and community relations and partnership programmes, which is community policing driven and geared towards achieving safety and security of the entire environment. According to Amaraizu,this years award/lecture was tagged 11th Edition of the Security Watch Africa Awards/lectures with the theme Developing strategies and Best Practices in the Fight Against Terrorism and Urban Crimes in Africa held at Al ghurair center dubai, United Arab Emirate and Al Bustan Rotana center Dubai United Arab Emirate respectively.Lectures on various security issues anchored on the theme were delivered by Brig.General Joseph Nunoo-mensah the Human security cordinator,Republic of Ghana and two time minister for defence in Ghana,His Excellecy Ambassador victor James former president of Ecowas commission.Key note address was presented by the Inspector General of police,Nigeria IGP suleiman Abba,cfr,npm,npom,mni on The role of civil police in the fight against terrorism in Africa:The Nigeria Perspective which was delivered by A.I.G Umar Manko the Assistant Inspector General of police Zone 2 lagos Nigeria. The organizers of the event led by Patrick Agbambu and the crew noted that they have decided to take this year edition out of the shores of Africa in order to pass to the international community that despite all odds and challenges that Africans may have had,that there are still those working tirelessly and honestly through their different vocation to put Africa in the correct record and that Africans are not bad as may be perceived by any of the international communities noting that Africa as a continent is a place to be.There were Awards of different categories to deserving people both in the force and other Sphere of human endeavours and from various African states.A.I.G Umar Manko,Tunde Ogunsakin,Cp Aderele Shinaba,Abubakar Adamu Mohammed,Ikemefuna okoye amongst others were among the recipients who thanked the Inspector General of police for giving them the opportunity to serve in their various capacities.Highlight of the occassion was the entertainment by the BELLY DANCERS OF DUBAI.
