The European Investment Bank has provided Malawi with EUR 30 million to help strengthen government policy to diversify and increase exports. The support, translating into K15 billion will be directed to the export agricultural companies under a new lending initiative and expected to broaden engagement of companies by supporting diversification of economic activities and contributing to the improved processing of agricultural products prior to export. In a press statement made available to Mana, European Investment Bank vice president Pim Van Ballekom said the Bank is pleased to resume engagement in Malawi while broadening its support to the private sector across the Southern and Eastern Africa.
