The Ferguson Affair continues to break my heart. Is there any end - TopicsExpress

The Ferguson Affair continues to break my heart. Is there any end to the mayhem in sight? Is this country EVER going to get along as Americans, rather than hyphenated Americans? The facts of this case have NOT all been gathered yet, but that doesnt stop an unruly mob for calling for the death of the officer that pulled the trigger. It doesnt stop others from blindly defending the cop, either. No one seems to want to wait for the facts to emerge before passing judgment. Sadly, cops shoot people in this country every day, some of them unarmed. Some shootings are justified, others are not. Thats why we have local and state investigations. When the federal govt jumps into a local case immediately, before waiting on facts to emerge, that sends a clear message that local law enforcement is somehow biased or otherwise incapable of handling a local shooting death. And it reinforces the stereotype that white cops are racist killers, out to prey on innocent black men. Why else raise the specter of civil rights violations right off the bat? Which is exactly what AG Holder has done. If we cant give the benefit of the doubt to local or state cops, why have them at all? Holder could just form a national police force to ensure that no questions ever again arise in a bi-racial shooting. Heck, he could hire exclusively black cops just to make sure that civil rights are never violated again. Local cops could just become meter maids or operate speed traps, and just leave the serious stuff to the feds. Its been 50 years since the end of Jim Crow, but the usual gang of race-baiters continue to use exceptions to prove the rule that America is still a racist country. Sharpton/Jackson will continue to do their thing, turning up every rock to find racism, and inventing it when they cant find any. I just wish this administration wouldnt pour gas on the fire those morons start.
