The First Pep Talk “Alrighty, folks – I think you’re all really gonna dig what we’ve got waiting for you on the other side of the curtain today. A few of you are here for maybe your second or third go-round and likely as tired of this speech as you were last time if the eye rolls in the back are any indication, Lol. We may pull those of you early if you’d ever finish up your check list, so, you might wanna make “alternative decision tree” a part of your vocabulary this time out (just sayin’). As for the stock advice, it’s about as simple as it gets and we’ve pretty much got it down to three pieces: 1) In spite of everything you’ll be told, never, ever keep your hands to yourself (we’ve been getting lots of odd feedback on that one). Your hands and arms were made to wrap around things. Use them as designed. 2) You’re gonna be misunderstood, misrepresented, and mistreated: none feel very good. You’re gonna misunderstand, misrepresent, and mistreat: those feel even worse. It’s then that a few lightbulbs will turn on for you to give you a better view of whatever space you’re in. Leave those on. Otherwise, your noisy, expletive-laced trip across whatever dark room you happen to be in at the time is gonna be pretty funny in retrospect and give the rest of your friends here a disproportionate number of laughs at your expense at the afterparty (though, some of you do seem to really be into that alone for some reason). 3) Just love whatever happens to be in front of you at any given time. Whatever it is and whatever your interpretation of it happens to be, it’s made entirely out of the same stuff as you. Ask Me how I know. You’re not expected to remember any of this – in fact, you WON’T remember any of this once the fellas with the amnesic strobe lights waiting over there at the drawn curtain corner are done with ya. What happens on the other side is simply a finding of each of your own individual ways to those three things through whatever convoluted path each of you strikes out on. It works. Crazy as it may sound, every one of those paths, no matter how disparate or circuitous they become, always lead each of you to the same exact spot (you’d be surprised how many of you I can fit on the point of a needle). Some arrive sooner, some later, but, we haven’t lost a person yet and I’ve been doin’ this a long, long time. Welp… think that about covers it – check ya on the other side for the debrief n’ follies show. ------ Anonymous #lostprefacetolifeslittleplaybook#luckonthatTuesday
