The GVLR are pleased to advise that the next loco to enter into the passenger loco pool will be Tubby a 28hp Simplex 4w DM MR8667 built in 1941. The loco already has air brakes from its days at the Beverley Army Museum but not to the GVLR single pipe system. The conversion is envisaged to take a few months and will be started once Ashover coach No. 4 is completed in August. New modern oil, air and fuel filters will be fitted during this time to eradicate the need for non existent spares of the ones it currently has. The loco will be perfect for use on two manriders during some of the less busy days and may also see use pulling ALR No.4 along our steeply graded line. Drivers will be cautious not to stall the engine though as its hand start only! Keep a look out in 2015 for Tubby working passenger trains.
