The Gaborone City full Council is expected to debate a motion next week, calling for Gaborone Mayor Haskins Nkaigwa, to resign from office. The motion will be tabled by Councillor Ndiwane Kenosi of the Botswana Congress Party, who says it is now in the public domain that the Mayor has lost confidence in the people he works with. He added that he had made false claims that a lot of decision affecting the City Council come as directives from the Central Government. The Mayor recently revealed to the media that the city council is engulfed with corruption, and the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime, DCEC, has not taken any action on some of the cases that were reported as far back as 2012. Kenosi said he will table another motion requesting that all the works of the Income Generating Committee, be suspended until the Mayor’s corruption allegations are investigated and cleared.
