The Gadsden Museum of Art proudly announces the 5th Southeastern Plein Air Invitational. Fifteen professional artists from across the Southeast will descend upon Gadsden to paint “en Plein Air,” beginning Thursday, April 10, 2014. Day 1 of painting will commence at J&D Farms where the artists will paint a full day. Day 2 will find the artists on Broad Street in Historic Downtown Gadsden, AL painting street scenes and store fronts. On Friday, April 12th, the artists will paint on the necklace parks of the Coosa beginning with Boat Dock area, Laferty’s Landing, James Martin Wildlife Park and Jack Ray Family Park. Some locations will feature antique cars. Saturday, April 13th, the artists will trek to Noccalula Falls including Pioneer Village and Walking Trail, Scenic Drove and Bellevue Drive painting at private homes with an overlook view. Sunday Morning the artists will begin the final leg of the SPAI, with two options- a “Dueling Brushes” competition , which is a two hour paint out, is offered or the artist may select a location of choice within the area or complete local commissioned paintings. A reception will be held in the afternoon on Sunday, April 14th from 2-4pm.
