The Gambia Are they Heroes? Yes Yahya is bad! Yes we Yahya want go! Yes I equally mourn the lost of any life in the name of our struggle. But is our answer few strong men amongst us with arms? Most likely not. Many gave me good examples of supposed arm take overs in our region/subregion. Equally there are multiples of such bad take overs including our own in 1994. This is problem not of few but all of us. The sooner we come around the concept of a Republic ( we are the sovereign) and democracy ( our equal participation in governing) we risk glowing approaches that even if they succeed are likely to take us to another unworthy harbor. To use undemocratic tools such as coup in the name of democracy has never produce democracy in history. My fellow Gambians we have more than enough capable citizens to come together for a democratic agenda that will throw out Yahya and any undemocratic elements from our home with our dictate rather than some armed few who will establish more check-points before we finish jubilation of downing Yahya. If you have an idea how this can be done please offer yourself. If you are not sure please ask questions. The notion this approach will take time is a fallacy - weve already lost 20 years of practically doing nothing other than participating in Yahyas flaw elections. Some argued the demonstrations in New York were the beginning of a larger up rising. At the time I said no - I hope theyve come around now. Some celebrated the actions of the recent coupists. Sure I want Yahya go but I cant celebrate one criminality over the other. If we are to go by the promises of these men - make quick references to Yahyas words in 1994 compared to where we are today. Our problem to a large extent is not Yahya but our selves. Our solution is not Yahya go but Institution Of A Functioning Democratic Republic The Gambia. That will make Yahya eventually inconsequential.
