The Golden Globes has kicked off the Hollywood awards season this year. For Robert De Niro fans, seeing him back in the boxing ring in this new movie “Grudge Match” is like having him reprise one of his iconic film characters, Jake LaMotta – the Italian American real life boxer from whose memoir the “Raging Bull” movie was adapted. It is timely, too, since that role gave De Niro a best actor award from the Golden Globes in 1981; as well as his second Academy Awards that same year (his first was a best supporting Oscar for playing Vito Corleone in “The Godfather Part II” in 1975).
