The Great Train Robbery (1978) is a good movie directed by Michael Chrichton and is also loosely based on the book he wrote, and stars Sean Connery, Donald Sutherland and Lesley-Anne Down. Set in the 1800s, Connery by all appearances is apparently part of English high society, however he secretly a master thief. He plans to steal a shipment of gold which is sent regularly to pay soldiers of the Crimean war. The bank has taken precautions by locking the gold in a safe that requires 4 keys to open it. After a test robbery using a hired stooge to test the security ends in disaster, Connery seeks his old partner, Sutherland, a pickpocket and safe cracker. Connery proposes a plan by locating the 4 keys and making copies of them, and then robbing the train as it is traveling. The movie is quite humorous and the actually planning and robbery is pretty good and clever. The cast is good, especially Connery and Sutherland. The end is a bit silly, but fits with the rest of the movie and is satisfying. #moviereview
