The Hagerman Bobcats are now 4-1 after mercy ruling the McCurdy Bobcats 56-6 in the 3rd quarter of Hagermans Homecoming. The Bobcats had all phases of their game firing well. Scores came from the offense, the defense, and special teams. First TD of the game for the Cats came by way of the air with Alejandro Ramos connecting on a 44 yd. pass to Michael Veloz. The Bobcats kickoff team pinned McCurdy deep in their own territory after a great kickoff from Freshman Andrew Veloz. On their second offensive play, Sophomore Logan Franklin took down the running back in the end zone for the safety and 2 more points for the Bobcats. After the free kick the Bobcats QB Ramos went to air again completing a 24 yd. TD pass to Mario Arebalos and the Cats were quickly out to a 16-0 lead. That wouldnt be the end of the 1st quarter scoring as Michael Veloz caught a 19 yd. pass from Alejandro. By this time McCurdy had to be wondering what runaway train hit them because everything was going Hagermans way. #61 Gavyn Quiroz added the point total with a safety of his own, followed up by another TD this time it was Freshman Osbaldo (Ozzy) Najera with a 47 yd pass reception from Alejandro Ramos. The McCurdy quarterbacks were under constant, intense pressure applied by the Bobcat defense including sacks by Logan Franklin. The first quarter would end with Hagerman taking a 31-0 lead into the 2nd quarter. The 2nd quarter scoring began when Joaquin Chavarria scampered across the goal line with a 35 yd. run. Michael Veloz would soon strike once again when from 2 yards out with the Bobcats offensive line opening gaping holes in the McCurdy defense. McCurdy would get their only score of the game when a pass was completed for the touch. Bobcats would take a 44-6 lead into the half. Coach Casey Crandall went to a young squad at offense with Ozzy Najera leading the Bobcat offense at QB. All the young players performed admirably and gained valuable game experience. Lori Gossett was the Master of Ceremonies for Homecoming 2014-15. The Freshmen Prince and Princess was Orion Bustamante and Ms. Logan Copeland. The Sophomore Prince and Princess was Logan Franklin and Ms. Brooke Dees. The Junior Prince and Princess was Adam Saenz and Marissa Morales. The Kindergarten Princess and Escort was Ms. Mya Ornelas and Luke Gray. The First Senior Prince and Princess was Alejandro Ramos and Ms. Brianna Hernandez. The Second Senior Prince and Princess was Lorenzo lueras and Ms. Alisandra La Rae Orozco. The Final Senior Prince and Princess was Gerardo Gefty Chacon and Ms. Thalia (Ested) Pantoja. The 2014-15 Football Homecoming King and Queen was awarded to Alejandro Ramos and Ms. Brianna Hernandez. The 3rd quarter was all Bobcats once again. This time the defense and Senior Michael Veloz got the bobcats out to a 50-6 lead with a pick 6 from 31 yards out. The special teams got on the board next with punt return TD from #2 Alex Veloz which would his 4th TD of the game enroute to the mercy rule 56-6 drubbing of the McCurdy Bobcats. Game Over!!!! It was an impressive display of football by this Bobcat team who after the loss to NMMI last week. More importantly the Cats seemed to come out of the game with everybody mostly healthy and ready to celebrate the Homecoming victory. We also would like to mention the turnout by the Bobcat fans was awesome. Next Saturday at 1 p.m. the Cats will travel to Carlsbad to meet a talented JV team.
