The Hill is reporting that House Democratic leaders plan to launch a comprehensive campaign strategy – and subsequent slogan – for the upcoming fall election. Although details have not been released, the idea is to duplicate the success achieved during the 2006 election. Steve Israel (D-NY), the head of the Congressional Campaign Committee, said: As ‘Six for ’06′ did, it will have specific ideas that contrasts Republicans siding with special interests, and Democrats siding with the middle class. This election is going to be a referendum on who’s got your back. And so it will fit into that general theme. Wanting only the very best for our fellow Americans, we have some ideas to contribute to the Democratic leadership: #1 – “Contract On America”: Since Gingrich’s “Contract With America” was so successful, there’s no reason not to directly borrow from it. Furthermore, it nicely implies that some citizens will be squarely in the crosshairs of the Democratic leadership. A tag line of “Targeting those with whom we disagree” would be a perfect accompaniment. #2 – “Back To The Future”: As the key voting demographic in the country will find this pleasantly nostalgic and instantly recognizable, it also utilizes two key progressive policy mechanisms — recycling bad ideas that have never worked and promises of a wonderful (read: Utopian) tomorrow.
