“The Holy Spirit: at Home In You” 1 Corinthians 3:16 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? This is one of the most profound truths of the Christian Faith. The Holy Spirit lives within every born again believer who has confessed Christ as Lord and believes in his heart that God raised Him from the dead. This is a transforming truth; to know that God Himself, in the person of the Holy Spirit is with you, to guide you, protect you, to stir your conscience against sin and moral corruption. The Psalmist writes: Psalm 23:3 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. What a blessing, to have your soul restored to a right relationship with God and to follow Him in paths of righteousness, thereby living a Godly lifestyle. A life that follows a path that is free from the bondages of sinful behavior. One that is set apart from the trappings of the world and its culturally acceptable immorality. This He does for His own name’s sake. The life of the indwelt believer will glorify God and bring Glory to His Name. Isaiah 59:19b 19b When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. The devil comes in like a flood, his only purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. He steals lives using the bondages of sin which ultimately lead to physical death and finally destruction which is an eternal spiritual death. However, there is victory over him by One who is far greater. The Spirit of the Lord will lift up His standard (his banner) against him. When the Queen of England is at home at Windsor Castle, a flag is raised to make it known that the Queen is in residence. The Spirit of the Lord lifts His banner high against the wiles of the enemy who comes against you, to let him know that you are a child of God, that He Himself, the King of Glory, is in residence within you. 1John 4:4b 4b“because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. He comes only through faith in Christ. If He is not in residence, make your commitment to Jesus and invite the Holy Spirit in today. If your “home” is not presentable, this is all the more reason to welcome Him. He will do the house keeping when he arrives.
