The Hong Kong umbrella protest center point is obvious. But I - TopicsExpress

The Hong Kong umbrella protest center point is obvious. But I wanted to share this video and post some takeaways I found interesting: 1) Although the young people in this video look to be educated, well dressed, technology equipped, they are still not happy about the relatively mild oppression the central Chinese govt is imposing on them. This illustrates to me that humans need freedom, its part of our DNA no matter where we come from. This need is the foundation of the Tea Party and the Right Wing. Theyre not evil, they just see the expansion of govt as the destruction of freedom just as the Left Wing sees the expansion of Big Business as the destruction of the economy and even humanity. Two very valid concerns, two big issues that need to be worked on by all. 2) We take our free speech in the US for granted so often. How seriously do we take our ability to be on Facebook and say anything we want? I take it for granted. Yes, yes, I know that if I post crazy stuff using keywords to threaten others with physical harm, that I stand a chance of being a person of interest. Im OK with that. 3) Remember when we used to hold up lit lighters or matches at concerts, etc? Now we hold up smartphones with the flashlight app on... ha ha.
