The Horse Whisperer of Israel I recently spent two days with my good friend and colleague Arthur Du Mosch. Arthur is a licensed tour guide specializing in the Great Outdoors of Israel. Arthur lives in Midreshet Sde Boker, at the foot of the Negev Desert. Arthur is also the best Horseman that I have ever known. He has a special way of communicating with his horses. As we rode together I could see his horse responding to his body movements, as if he had whispered in their ears. He would speak softly, keep them calm and focused. At the same time he was able to look after me and make sure that I was riding correctly. Arthur taught me that there is more to riding than just getting on the horse. Horses need to be fed, brushed, and their stable areas need to be cleaned beforehand. Only then could we put on the bridles, saddles, and head out. And after the ride.. We did more of the same. For a city slicker like myself..this was a Totaly New Experience! We spent nearly two days riding thru the Negev. We rode thru the Zin desert and also near Kibbutz Sde Boker. The views were really magnificent! We were alone in the desert. Just us and our horses. The quiet was amazing!
