The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures - TopicsExpress

The House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures held a hearing today focused on a dynamic analysis of Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp’s tax reform discussion draft. A key goal of tax reform – in addition to making compliance less onerous and less expensive for American taxpayers – is to make our tax code less of a barrier to economic growth and job creation. Using analytic tools to determine the realistic, macroeconomic impact of proposed reforms leads us one step closer to achieving a positive set of solutions for the American people. This hearing was an important opportunity to highlight the benefits of this sort of analysis – benefits that would prove useful when considering a broad array of legislation that we know will have an impact on America’s economy. That is why I introduced and the House of Representatives has passed the Pro-Growth Budgeting Act (H.R. 1874) which would require the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to provide a longer-term, macroeconomic analysis of legislation.
