The Hunger games : mockingjay part 1 If we burn , you burn The first part of the last part of the Hunger games is here and it is worth the wait , taking up the story just weeks after the events of Catching fire we find ,Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence ) still suffering from the after effects of the games and fighting against her new role as the face of the uprising. Now living in an underground bunker that is all that is left of district 13 run by the surviving citizens of a military district, their president Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) is not convinced that Katniss is the one to inspire the people in the fight against the capital and president Snow (Donald Sutherland). but after a propaganda film from the capital showing Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) asking all to lay down their guns and surrender she uses her position to demand that the surviving tributes including Peeta be rescued. after a failed attempt to film an inspiring propaganda film, Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) convinces president coin to send her to district 12 to see what president Snow did to it , followed by a film crew and protected by Gale (Liam Hemsworth) she witnesses the full horror of the power that president Snow will use to stop the uprising. but its on a trip to a hospital in District 10 only to be targeted by the capital and her desire to fight is reignited but first she must make sure that Peeta is rescued. The Hunger games Mockingjay pt.1 is a very different film to the first Two films for one thing the games are gone and the spectre of a real war is here, giving a lot of time to the use of propaganda in any conflict be it political of military the film shows the real power of imagery with Katniss the perfect weapon, the film moves at a very good pace and mixes a lot of emotion and some very good visuals to build to a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting the last instalment . Lawrence is again perfect in the lead and supported by a top rate cast including the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, while Elizabeth Bankss Effie adds well needed hummer to the bleak surroundings and is a real treat as is Harrelsons Haymitch , while Moore gives a solid performance as president Coin. This is a strong, emotional, fast paced film that fits into the story line nicely and will not disappoint, you just wont be able to wait till next November for the conclusion.
