The Indian Premier League Governing Council has confirmed that United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the first phase of matches for the 2014 edition from April 16 to April 30. The Governing Counil also announced that 20 matches will be played in the UAE with Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah CA Stadium and Dubai International Cricket Stadium set to host the games. The IPL GC, in a tweet, mentioned that the opening match on April 16 will be between defending champions Mumbai and Kolkata in Abu Dhabi at 8:00 PM IST (6:30 PM local time).
