The Iraqi council of ministers approved a new personal status law called Jafari law which takes the Iraqi governments violation of womens rights to a new level : LEGALISING CHILD MARRIAGE AT AGE NINE AND MARITAL RAPE. This have been approved on February 25, 2014, it must now be approved by the parliament to become law. This law, if enacted, would undoubtedly damage what Iraqi women have been struggling to get did of for more than a century. It is a degrading step for both Iraqi men and women alike.
