The Joyce Bruce Memorial Fund In honor of Joycelyn (Gram) Bruce, I felt the need to remember and keep her selfless , loving spirit alive. Inspired by her extended family at West Jefferson Medical Center and her dear friend and priest, Fr Ryan of St Anthony / St Pius Church, I have decided . In conjunction with a small committee, a memorial fund is being created, in her name . .Through fundraising events, and donations, we will raise money, year long, that will be used to benefit this community and its residents.. All profits will be distribute directly back in to this community as needed. The first of which will benefit the Close Up program at Fisher High School. From there, we will evaluate the need of various groups and individuals to decide where best the funds are distributed. We have so many great ideas and plans for the future . Our goal is to help those who truly need, create a greater sense of community and give back to a place that gives so much, simply by coming together.. . That is our strength, this community has overcome so many tragedies and disasters by banding together. We find strength when others are ready to give up and move on. We stay, ,sometimes even when we have no structure left to call home. We work hard, usually with tears in our eyes and sadness in our hearts,. We join together and we rebuild .It is those moments that I am most proud of where I am . This is my attempt to say thank you, and to create more of those moments , for good reasons., in happy times. Not after a natural disaster or devastating loss but to celebrate our victories and triumphs together. We deserve that, My mother would be honored to be a part of it so I will make sure she is. . I will do it for her, in her name. I hope she will be proud. They say it takes a village to raise a child, I now know that is true. When I am at my lowest, I always seem to find a piece of her. Everywhere I go, I hear the most wonderful stories and am told how special she was. It is always accompanied with the warmest hug or kindest smile. This is my way of remembering her and thanking each and every one of you. I love you, Cindy Knuppel Sassoni
