The King of Peace! In his days shall the righteous flourish; - TopicsExpress

The King of Peace! In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth. Psalm 72:7 This Psalm was written for Solomon, David’s son, as he was beginning his reign as king of Israel, praying for a spirit of wisdom and righteousness in all his judgments. Psalm 72:1-2, “Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the kings son. He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.” God had promised King David that in the reign of his son there would be peace with all the nations round about them. David’s desire was to build a house for the Lord his God, (Jehovah), but God had not allowed him to do so because of all the blood he had shed during his reign as king. He was told that his son who would sit on his throne would build it, and that his throne would endure forever. What a tremendous promise this was for David! It seemed that everywhere he turned he encountered trouble, spending his entire life for the most part fighting the enemies of the Lord’s people (Israel). (Read 2 Samuel) The amazing promise was that David’s seed would rule forever! This goes beyond the earthly realm because nothing on earth is forever, but only His Word! The greater David (Jesus Christ) would in the fullness of time come to bring true peace on earth. Isaiah writes of this, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:6-7). In this we see that everything, which transpires in this world, fulfills God’s purposes to glorify Him alone. Does history intrigue you? Read the Bible. It is HIS-STORY! When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the Angels sang for joy, “And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” (Luke 2:13-14). This was the promised Prince of Peace, but even more, when He had finished the work the Father had given Him that He would go back into heaven to His Father. He said to His disciples, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). To have peace while we are alive is a great blessing, but it is only temporal and will only last for a short time. And more it is a false peace for God’s word says, “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked” Isaiah 57:21). God’s people are looking and waiting for that peace which passes all understanding. Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Is Jesus Christ your peace, or are you still looking for a peace, which is no peace?
